Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Remember to reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining for adjustments later.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and season lightly with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque, then set aside.
  • Sauté minced garlic and red pepper flakes in the same skillet for about 30 seconds until the garlic becomes fragrant.
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Allow the sauce to simmer for 8-10 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  • Combine the cooked spaghetti with the sauce in the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta evenly. Use the reserved pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency if it appears too thick.
  • Return the shrimp to the skillet, gently folding them into the pasta. Top with the freshly chopped basil just before serving, then finish with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Optional: Serve with crusty garlic bread for the perfect pairing.
