How to Make Polish Jam Cookies (Kolaczki)

  • In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, unsalted butter, cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to approximately 1/8 inch thick.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice the rolled dough into 3-inch squares.
  • Place a small spoonful of your chosen fruit preserves right in the center of each square.
  • Fold the corners of the square towards the center and pinch to seal.
  • Arrange the cookies on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Once baked, allow your cookies to cool for a few minutes and dust lightly with powdered sugar.
