Preparation Steps

  • Prepare the soup base by combining the water with the palm nut concentrate in a large pot. Mix well and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the Oburunbebe sticks to the pot and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes.
  • Stir in the blended onion, crayfish, and Scotch bonnet peppers. Simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  • Add the stockfish to the pot and cook for 10-15 minutes.
  • Mix in the Banga spice, seasoning cube, and salt. Simmer for another 10 minutes.
  • Gently fold in the Beletete leaves and catfish. Cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Ladle the soup into bowls and serve warm with traditional swallow, rice, or boiled yam.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh ingredients and consider making the soup base ahead of time.
