  • 4 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Divide batter among prepared pans and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cakes cool completely on wire racks before frosting.
  7. For frosting, beat softened butter and powdered sugar until creamy; gradually add cocoa powder and heavy cream until fluffy.
