  • 1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp rum or bourbon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Fit the pie crust into mini tart pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until combined. Add heavy cream, milk, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and rum. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour custard mixture into each crust until three-quarters full.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until set but slightly jiggly in the center. Cool for ten minutes in pans before transferring to wire racks.
  5. Serve chilled or at room temperature topped with whipped cream or powdered sugar.
