  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • ¾ cup fruit jam (raspberry or apricot)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, whisk together flour, powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  2. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg yolk and almond extract to the butter mixture; mix well.
  4. Gradually combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll out half of the dough on a floured surface to about an eighth-inch thick. Use cookie cutters to create shapes, cutting out centers in half of them.
