  • 8 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with heart-shaped liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugar, vegetable oil, buttermilk, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract to make frosting.
  7. Once cupcakes are cool, frost generously and enjoy!
