  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 orange or lemon
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes). Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract and citrus zest.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in chocolate chips using a spatula.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart. Bake for about 10 minutes or until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  7. Allow cookies to cool slightly before serving warm.
