  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/flour your chosen cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition; then stir in vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the butter mixture, alternating with milk until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter in half; stir cocoa powder into one half.
  6. Alternate spoonfuls of both batters in the pan and swirl with a knife for the marble effect.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool before slicing.
