  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

  • 1 cup mixed dried fruits (raisins, cranberries)
  • 4 oz marzipan
  • Zest of 1 lemon and 1 orange

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, whisk flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well and pour in the yeast mixture.
  3. Add softened butter and eggs; mix until combined. Knead until smooth (8 minutes).
  4. Fold in soaked dried fruits and citrus zest.
  5. Let dough rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).
  6. Punch down dough, shape into an oval, place marzipan in the center, fold dough over.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Brush with melted butter and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
