  • 1 large egg yolk

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Gradually mix this into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Form small balls of dough (about one inch wide) and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them two inches apart. Press your thumb gently into each ball to create an indentation.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges. Allow to cool before filling each thumbprint with powdered sugar mixed with a bit of eggnog.
