  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter until fluffy. Gradually add eggs one at a time while mixing.
  4. Alternately mix in half of the dry ingredients followed by half of the milk; repeat until fully combined.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Scoop the batter into liners about two-thirds full and bake for 20-22 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
