  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of your favorite jam or preserves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  3. Add the eggs one at a time along with the vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared sheets, spacing them two inches apart. Press your thumb into the center of each ball to create an indentation.
  6. Fill each thumbprint with about half a teaspoon of jam. Bake for approximately 10 minutes until set but still soft.
  7. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely before serving.
