  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 1/4 cup crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until creamy and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract; mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in chocolate chips and crushed candy canes.
  7. Scoop dollops of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them two inches apart.
  8. Bake for about 10 minutes or until edges are set but centers appear slightly underbaked. Let cool on sheets for five minutes before transferring to wire racks.
