  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and espresso powder; whisk until well mixed.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until frothy.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fill the cupcake liners two-thirds full with batter and bake for 18–20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. For frosting, whip together butter and cream cheese until smooth; gradually add confectioners' sugar and fold in caramel sauce.
  8. Generously frost cooled cupcakes and drizzle with additional caramel if desired.
