  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup diced Granny Smith apples

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Blend in the egg yolk and gradually mix in dry ingredients until combined.
  5. Gently fold in diced apples without smashing them.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet and press your thumb into each ball to create an indentation.
  7. Bake for about 12-15 minutes until lightly golden. Once cooled slightly, fill each thumbprint with caramel sauce.
