  2. In a bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

  6. Drop tablespoon-sized dollops of dough onto the prepared baking sheets about two inches apart.
