  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • Red food coloring
  • Mini candy canes
  • Colorful candies (M&Ms or Skittles)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with festive liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter until light and fluffy; gradually add sugar.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk until just combined.
  6. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  7. For frosting, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth; mix in red food coloring to desired shade.
  8. Frost cooled cupcakes and insert mini candy canes on each side to resemble Santa's legs.
